returned to the western hemisphere

my last night in australia was spent having a wonderful dinner with fantastic friends. i slept for four hours before i decided to just get up, as sleep was no longer an option. it was at 5am that i realized that i was finally leaving australia...in six hours! when mark left for work and hugged me good bye, i got a bit misty. when david hugged me at the airport, i started to cry. when andrew hugged me, that's when i lost it completely. of course, when i got on the plane, all had much improved and i was getting excited to see julie. 13 hours on the plane and i think i slept for 15 minutes. i arrived at 7am...four hours before i had left australia! i proceeded to stay up as long as possible in a bleak effort to adjust to the new time. (at one point, i was sitting on the couch and holding my head up by my hair!) at 9pm i finally went to sleep after being awake for about 37 hours.

coming to california on my way home has been....interesting. it's similar to australia, but it's so different. same with canada. it's an interesting place to transition. also a bonus as julie's moving home soon after being away for a year, so we're processing together.
