I finally understand the title of that song, on a symbolic level. I can't really describe it in words.
I saw Manchurian Candidate tonight. It was pretty good, but I would have directed a better ending sequence. Jonathon Demme is still one of my favourites. There was a hell of a lot of political commentary, and I think he did a better job than Moore's 9/11 did. The movie was also about personal identity in that Dark City kinda way. The old debate about erasing painful emotional memories as opposed to embracing who you are. I'll take a balance somewhere between drinking away what you can't repress and understanding the gist of life. God, Maryl Streep's monologue about tweaking identity was awesome. She is totally one of the best actresses of our time. She was actually the only reason I gave the movie a chance. Ted Levine had a cameo, I figured since he knew the director and needed a role outside of "Monk." I also liked the random Angels in America poster on the apartment wall in the movie. It is the icon from the cover of the collected play with no words, so you would have to own the copy to know its a reference.
I don't have much more to say. I'm listening to a mix I'm making now and watching the same olympic footage I've seen twice today. Those Chinese are some nimble little people. And if you didn't hear it already, its okay that Puerto Rico beat the Dream Team cause we still run their government and tax them without representation.
I'm gonna go read Uta Hagen and download some Dead stuff since the concert is in two days (kinda).
Shine On.
