Why isn't there more street Mimes...

So, the big move is over. I live in Texas.

What do I think of Texas huh? Well... I'm not gana lie to ya, it isn't California.

90% of the people here are white, religious, way too nice, and have to say y'all every sentence. Luckily, they aren't like my nightmares; cowboy boots, Texas belt buckle, cowboy hat, button up long sleeve shirt, jeans, a giant beard, and screams 'yeehaw' every not and then (only ran across 2 so far). I miss the jack-asses of California...

If you don't know what the Texas flag looks like after 30 minutes of being in Texas, your a complete moron. It's all over the fuckin place. Everywhere you see an American Flag (which they have all over the place) you see a Texas flag. Some people even litter their porches with it.

The humidity sucks the most, it smells bad and feels like the sweat of 1000 people hitting you in the face. Every place in Texas has air conditioning for this reason. Texas likes to rain completely out of nowhere too. Not just small droplets... Giant thunderstorms with violent winds. One storm had lightning going off like every 5 seconds, it was really cool looking. Stood outside for 5 seconds and got shit scared cause of the hardcore winds lol (I tried to take videos for you deprived people at Cali but its prolly too dark).

Did I mention how poorly they constructed their freeways are here? I'm not joking it sucks... The freeways are not elevated most of the time, but heres the kicker... they have 1 way streets on both sides of the freeway running parallel to the freeway. Now, while that doesn't sound so bad, imagine you look across the street and see the place you want to go to... guess what? You have to drive 2 miles to get to the next u-turn lane, and drive 2 miles back just to get there. It's a pain in the ass when you have a lot of places to go to... The fact that they created u-turn lanes specifically for turning around means they know they fucked up lol. True story - The guy who designed this freeway structure ended up committing suicide a couple of years ago.

May be I am just spoiled, but this places lacks sidewalks in most areas, nice looking parking lots (most of them are dirt), and street signs every now and then. Get this... When a road is closed, they tarp over the sign on the freeway... WHY! If its closed, just say its closed, don't conceal it like it never existed. What if your using that street as a marker, then your f'd! My company wanted to go to a awesome burrito place called Freebirds, and our Manager gave us the directions. Unfortunately, that day that ramp was closed and they put TARP over all signs leading to it, and the exit... so you didn't even know it existed. About 25% of the people showed up (the ones who happened to have his cell number), everyone else drove right passed it and ended up going up to 20 miles to no where before they were like "ok, uh... we should probably turn back since lunch will be over by the time we get back". It's completely retarded.

This place has a homeless guy on every corner, in-fact one day I think I saw them all getting together to decide which streets to take (like 20 or so of them lol). I don't think its illegal here, I could be wrong... One washed my window *shrugs*, so I did the obligatory flip of a quarter his direction, I felt so pimp.

Alright now that I have vented, I must add that I do not 'hate' Texas. There are several things about this place that makes it really nice to live here.

First of all, the everything here is dirt cheap. I feel like a king with my pay check. Moving here basically doubled my paycheck because of the cost of living in Texas. I'm living a two-story house and I pay 1/2 as much less then I did in California living in a 3 bedroom apartment with 3 other people sharing a room. Giant two-story houses with like 5 bedrooms sell for like 128k here... It's pretty insane.

The food here... All I can say is wow. I love the food places here, I've tried a lot of places out so far and I've rarely come across places I didn't like. There are just so many places I never heard of. Apparently the cable guy thought I was crazy because I never heard of a 'Whataburger'. Ya, I know... what the hell is that place? Well it's like the equivalent of Mc. Donald's quality chain fast food joint and its been around for 50 years. They are all over Texas, and they even got stupid commercials for it too... Very interesting places here.

Supposedly 6th street is like 'The' place to go around here. They even close off the street from time to time because there is just so many people walking around having a good time drinking, dancing, *cough* stripping. Did I mention they did quite a bit of videos from "Girls Gone Wild" there *rolls eyes*? Now, I'm not a big drinker, but ya... Just chilling with friends from work there was fun.

Call me weird if you must, but I do enjoy the different birds that fly around here. I really cant figure out what the hell they are. They have pointier beaks and unnecessarily long tail feathers that don't work so well for Texas winds.

Geesus, the scenery here is absolutely awesome. There are a couple of ramps that switch from freeway to freeway thats higher in the air and you just look all around you and it is completely surrounded by a flat city with feint picture of mountains far far away... its beautifully. The clouds are so majestic here as well.

I must admit, being kinda far away from home does feel fun a little. Though every now and then it pains me to turn on the news and the weather reporter will be pointing at the state of Texas instead of a southern California picture and your like, awwww...

I'm on AIM 24/7 now, please contact me!!! Since Isabel lost her cell phone in the bathroom of a Taco Bell in Lordsburg New Mexico, I can't get a hold of Isabel as much as I'd like... I'd really like to chat with all of you guys more.

Peace out for now!

And remember... Dove's love Big Macs!
