Brief notes in the ~15 minutes before Heroes:

* As of tomorrow, I will be employed again! Yes, my year of freedom* is officially over. I am taking the part-time position at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, in the hope that it will yield more Communications experience (including potential grantwriting) and possibly more hours as the months go by.

* We're still pleased with our housing choice for Austin, but it does not look like we'll be moving anytime soon. We caught wind of another holdup with properties on our street related to their position near the floodplain, and we're looking for an explanation.

* I am interviewing a potential nanny situation tomorrow that seems good. The only bad part so far is that she's expensive. I don't know if I can afford more than what I'm already buying, and on top of that, she's getting another family to fill in the other three days a week. So I'm in the awkward position of possibly needing more hours that I can't afford in the future. I am trying not to worry about that and just be grateful for finding a good nanny almost as easily as I found a job.

* Beach weekend was so promising! We had a painless drive down on Thursday night and a relatively easy transition to sleeping once we were there (she cried for a while but eventually gave up and went to sleep). We had a nice day on Friday, but by the end of the day I felt pretty run down. I couldn't stay up for X-Men III, which was unfortunate because I was getting to see it for free in a mini-theatre contained within this giant beach house. But no cigar. I went to bed miserable and chilled, with a sore throat and increasingly stuffy head. Carys woke up to nurse around 12:30 and I realized that she was feverish as well. Great. I also couldn't sleep because I was so achey. Then, Wes woke up in the morning with the nausea he sometimes gets from eating heavy food with alcohol - in this case, barbeque with a rather large margarita. So he was the one that got to stay in bed all morning (because he couldn't go 10 feet without upchucking) and I had to take care of the baby. I got a break later in the afternoon and finally got a couple of hours of sleep. We left that evening. Carys slept fitfully all the way home, and then settled down after we got home and slept until 9 AM! Then she slept three hours on Sunday afternoon. Sadly, this was not the harbinger of longer naps for the rest of the week.

We did get to introduce her to the sand beach and the ocean, and the weather was gorgeous.

All for now. Must go get hydrated - I now have that annoying tickle in my throat that makes it feel like I'm thirsty all the time. At least the achey is gone.

* Well, from work at least.
