I was incredibly bored in class today while my professor droned on and on about something unimportant and dull. So I did what any sane and awesome person would do: I thought about The Walking Dead and the fics I'm working on, which led to me thinking about fanfiction in this fandom in general, what I want to see, and what I think could make for

I feel claustrophobic writing within the limits of current canon.
Trying to write within the confines of the farm is rather limiting. Out of the fics I’ve written, only 2 have been set while CDB is at the farm and even then the action took place elsewhere (Daryl off finding Sophia and Rick & Andrea trying to hunt). The farm has…stagnated the story, I think.
IDk if you’ve read the comics, but I hope they move on to the next location soon : )
That's to say, I don't want to read an AU where Rick and Shane are in a boyband with Glenn and Daryl and they fall in love and there's no zombie apocalypse. I'd like my characters to be recognizable.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! What’s the point of a zombie-less fic in a zombie show fandom? I know the characters are still the characters, but they’ve been shaped by the ZA. Without it, they’d be different people.
Show me the characters on Hershel's farm in a future where things have changed, alliances have shifted, shit has gone down, and then fill in the blanks.
Ooh, I like that idea….
Or take me far away from there to anywhere you want to go. Kill characters if you want, make unexpected people get together. Convince me of your universe and make it awesome. That's what I want to see.
http://kaitlia777.livejournal.com/123144.html#cutid1/ Set a few years in the future. It’s Rick/Andrea though, in case you don’t like that.
Which brings me to my next point: I don't think fandom cliches are inherently bad, I'm not sure anyone does, but in my Contemporary Writing class everyone's been bitching about cliches, and I'm sick of the bad reputation they have. If it's a cliche that works, abuse the shit out of it. Just because A is the same as a lot of other fics, doesn't mean B and C have to be the same, or that you can't do A better than someone else. If you can take a bad cliche and make it wonderful, blow people away with your writing, fucking do it.
Cliches become clichés because they are awesome ideas and people keep using them. I say, bring on the clichés!
I guess, but for some reason not knowing what's going on in Shane's head, just Andrea's, seems more compelling to me. I think maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'd rather have Andrea describe Shane's body in bed than Shane describing Andrea's body,
At the moment, canon wise, I think Shane’s head could be a scary place. Like when I was writing 24 fic and had to do Jack’s POV…there’s only so twisty that I’m comfortable with, lol. But as for porn, I try to divide up the POV’s and appreciate both partners equally…I find it off putting when writers go all "Her glorious vagina was glorious and sexy".
I’m considering writing some more, but I have WIP’s in other fandoms to wrap up (X-Men and the Avengers)…but knowing me, something will come up and I’ll find a prompt I have to fill, lol!
See you around the fandom!

I hadn't really thought much about Rick/Andrea in terms of the show, but they've always been one of my dream pairings in the comics, so now that I think about it future fic with Rick/Andrea in the television fandom sounds pretty great. Adding your fic to my delicious feed yesssss!!
Yes! Bring on the cliches indeed!
Splitting up the POVs has so many merits, I can definitely get behind a good fic that does that.
