http://www.honeysynforum.net/why-t198.html Am glad I read this link here or I would have just continued having a vague sense of anger and sadness each time I think of honeysyn. Forgot about it for quite some time actually, but YY showed me a taiwanese singer's cover of Creep (which was surprisingly good... was expecting it to be engrish-y but she pronounced everything well) and since this was the sort-of theme song for Metis and Josh, I decided to check out the forums to try and find a clue why it stopped so abruptly.
Read the first volume around... a year ago? Came back to it and devoured all the new chapters excitedly when it suddenly...STOPPED. As in, there was an ending but, as mentioned before - it was very, very abrupt. Was expecting more volumes so when it came I was just left gobsmacked in front of the screen going

;____; Wha? What's going on?
From confusion, I quickly progressed to anger and to even feeling a certain sort of betrayal. I was expecting so much more.
But after reading the author/artist's comments, I understand (finally, sense of closure! lol). When one embarks on a project all ready to flesh it out and the passion just (somehow) happens to die down along the way due to unforeseen circumstances... ya can't help it, y'know? In a way, a good thing that came out of this was that HoneySyn stopped when the going was still good. It was clear in the second volume that the creator was already losing interest (the plot was going nowhere) and I am glad that she knew it was simply time to wrap things up. Some things simply work better as one-shots, and I think HoneySyn manages to fill that role well. Granted, I think it might have worked if she still had interest and commitment to it. Despite the 2nd volume being rather sketchy, it hinted at bigger things to come and she could have turned things around by fleshing said things out more and exploring the characters further by volume 3+.
Still... that course of action might very well just turn disastrous. Will check out her new webcomic when I have the time. Hope that it's as good/even better than HoneySyn and that she'd be able to stick to this project.
