It's all about quality.
Here's something that put things into a bit of perspective for me. Hope it gives some of you pause for thought. I had a patient come in yesterday with visible signs of pain and distress. She started off with cancer of the parotid gland and, unfortunately for her, they found it too late. The cancer began to spread and she became terminal before they could even discuss options. She told me she didn't have an appointment, but she needed to speak with Dr. Code, M and I urgently. Concerned that she was making a turn for the worse and needed admission to be evaluated for hospice care, I pulled her into a room and called the others in to hear what she had to say. She needed our help to get away from her husband because he beat the shit out of her and she's afraid for her life.
