Feministing freaks out over World of Warcraft's Easter celebration, calling it "unconscionable" and
equates having bunny ears put on your avatar's head to rape. (But only if you are a girl)
(Also, only girls play female characters)
I'm all about thinking of survivors and abuse victims (as I am one myself) and doing your part to make sure triggering things are properly labeled, but it's the internet. Anonymity is an excuse to be an asshole for most. Even though I'm in ED recovery, I know that my friends on Facebook are going to have some triggering pictures, or livejournal icons might trigger me, you just never know. Hell, rape wank makes me so incredibly angry (as well as non-con fiction discussion, most people are full of "your kink is not okay and I can say this and I've been raped/never been raped/know someone who was raped). I get the fuck over it and navigate away from the page.
As for this situation, yes I do understand the point they are making, but since I don't play MMORGs it's kinda hard for me to come down on either side of this debate. I personally think it's a complete overreaction to equate pixelated bunny ears to rape, and the statement in itself kind of rubs me the wrong way. Complaining about a sexual overtone in a video games is stupid, to me. Sex is inherent in our culture, especially the internet.
You can find free porn on here, you know.
