Carrie wanted to say something but you're not friended with her on live journal.
I just wanted to say that as an adult with ASD (actually most multiples I've met are also on the spectrum as well) that with early diagnosis that he'll be in good hands.
There wasn't such thing as high functioning autism/Aspergers when we were young (that all predates before I've been around). For someone that's never been diagnosed for 44 years, I think we've done very well.
Everyone with ASD is different , that's one thing I got the gist of very quickly.
When you wrote that you thought he'll be an engineer? He very well may end up doing just that. We know several aspires that are actually engineers.
Right now, it's a curse...but you'll eventually understand how your son thinks differently is a gift (we're not totally at that place yet either). He'll be able to solve problems or do things that most people can't do, just because he's wired differently.
Yes, he'll have sensory and social issues... Based on what you've written thus far, he's able to connect with people, which is a good thing..
And if you're wondering if carrie and I are different far as autism traits go? Umm...yes I probably have more aspie traits than she does. My thinking is far more rigid and have a harder time adjusting if/when my routines get disrupted. But I'm better with boundaries than she is (we both take things literally, I think she hides it better than I do)
