The Dow Jones Industrial Average is close to an all time round number high of 13,000.
One one level, it's just a number, but in another way, it means that the American economy is chugging forward again with the kind of good momentum that we lost for a bit, with the dotcom bubble and 9/11.
I think it would be cool to host stock market parties. Every time the Dow hits another thousand-point high, we get together, talk about where we were the last time it happened, and drink some champagne. Or sparkling white wine. Or fermented apple cider. Something.
Of course, if the Dow goes up and up and up, it will soon get to the point where it goes up a thousand points once a week, and we're getting drunk all the time.
To that I say, and?
