Or what I thought of the last three episodes in the first part of Doctor Who’s season six. Yes I am a week late and I have perfectly good reasons for being so.
The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People were a bit… less interesting. Exciting sure, especially seing Matt Smith act with himself, but for the most part Issac Asimov’s Clone of My Own filk was running through my head. And yes, I was wondering why the obvious solution wasn’t being explored. (Hint: It’s referenced in that song. Yes, I am a little hedonistic.)
However, it was nice seeing what circumstances prompted the theory that the Doctor who was shot by the ‘astronaut’ is actually a Flesh clone. Although you’d think that the suit would be equipped with things that could differentiate between a Flesh clone and not. (Maybe they weren’t expecting that.)
I was kind of wondering why Amy allowed Rory to be nice to Jennifer. She was a little jealous but seemed a whole lot more mellow than she usually is when Rory does something she doesn’t approve of. (Though she was being all subtext-y with the Doctor, so all’s fair play?)
Also, the grey-haired guy, Jimmy, was in another sci-fi program I watched called Paradox and he also played a somewhat bitter and cynical character who was still fond of his kids. /random
A Good Man Goes To War however, was much more satisfying. Kind of. I mostly spoiled myself for all the important bits (who River Song is, how much awesome!Rory there was) so it was a bit less effective. Though I still squeed over Rory being back in armour and being so freaking awesome.
That being said, I do like the ensemble episodes where a whole lot of previous characters join in on the fun. Yay for the Averys taking over the escape pod and what is it with Doctor Who and Victorian lesbians? I mean Lady Vastra and Jenny the maid aren’t exactly… subtle. Although I do think they are particularly awesome and I really wouldn’t mind more of them. Also, the crossover potential! (I have been having crossovers on the brain recently, so there’s not too much to worry about there though...)
Oooh! The baby carrier eyepatch lady was using! Reminded me very strongly of the capsule that Goku was sent to Earth in. Which is er… a bad thing, possibly, since that plan went to pieces in the end didn’t it? Although I suppose it’d also be a good thing since Earth gained itself a defender because Goku forgot what his rather destructive purpose in life was. It’d be amusing though, if River Song/Melody Pond crashed to Earth though and the only indicator that she was something other was the occasional spark of artron energy.
Speaking of, I still believe the TARDIS is all to blame for this. Since, you know, it could’ve stopped the whole thing being started in the first place. Except probably not because it probably knew from the very first moment that River/Melody stepped into her that she was conceived on her and is technically hers as well, and thus had to help the process along or simply not interfere in what was happening anyway.
Can I include River/Melody whenever someone says ‘Ponds’? Because she is one after all. And the scene when Rory is trying to convince her to come battle with them is all sorts of fluffy awww-ness that’s so terribly sad if you rewatch it.
So yes, River’s now one of the Ponds, I now ship Rory/Amy/TARDIS on top of 11/Rory/Amy, Amy/Amy and 11/TARDIS; the baby carrier is Saiyan in origin and Lady Vastra and her maid are awesome. (I can definitely see why they suddenly have a fandom.)
Also, in case you’re wondering why Amy/Amy is a ship: see the Red Nose day specials 1 (time) & 2 (space). Amy fancies herself in them. And yes, there has been porn written of this already.
As to reason why I'm late? Well, there's that Red Nose Day special which distracted me for a bit and there's a Inda/The Fox post being written and a VERY long chronicle about an adventure I had browsing Wikipedia one night. I may or may not also be trying to finish some fic off. Anyone want to beta for me?
