Fuck Being 'Green'

I think I came to the conclusion several years ago that being 'green' (carbon footprints and all that) is a complete load of old bollocks.

As someone (I don't know who said it first) once said, and I paraphrase; "We aren't killing the planet, the planet will easily survive, it is just adjusting slightly to us - we will die".

I agree wholeheartedly with this. The planet is a huge ecosystem that we are part of. Being part of an ecosystem means that you influence it That you change it. And that is what we are doing. Most species on this planet have evolved and become extinct - it is part of the natural way of the ecosystem.

Our focus, as a race (species), should be on our own survival (I won't go into my opinions on war and other subjects) - and, as the planet is perfectly capable of looking after itself, we need some perspective on that.

The only thing that seems to unite the human species is a common enemy. I don't think we should try our luck and wait for hostile aliens, so there is only one choice left - ourselves.

This means we need to really feel the pinch, we need to have the self-motivation. We wont be driven by others, except through fear, towards a common goal. We need to fear ourselves, to be so utterly soul-wrackingly frightened of our own survival that we dare to step out of our own stupid socioeconomic doomed way of life.

And why not enjoy your life, give some meaning to your own existence in the here and now. Don't be 'green', you can't change this planet, not in this lifetime. You certainly can't save this planet, there is nothing to save. People are ultimately responsible for themselves, so you can't take their responsibility. You can't save them either. Enjoy the world - watch how it moves, how it changes, how it lives. Live with it.
