Slash tends to outnumber het in just about any fandom. Not that I dislike a well-written slash, but I have never quite understood why so many writers (and readers) are so utterly fascinated with it...
This is a contentious subject and I'm going to try and talk about it without my bias coming through (I prefer het to slash and pretty much always have-I'm female, for one thing, so I find it hard to empathise in slash scenarios. My own sexuality aside, I do find some slash representations of M/M relationships heteronormantive and that to me is not something I can suspend my disbelief over very well.) Mostly, I think there's a lot to be said for two pretty men together. Human beings are visual and greedy, so the idea has a lot of appeal. Also if, to be crude, you like cock two is probably better than one. However, all that said, I think there's also a degree in which female sexuality is still difficult to represent and for women to empathise with-it's seen as only for those in the peak of physical fitness or attractiveness and that it exists only for the titillation of the men who are watching it.
