SOMETHING NEW

May 05, 2011 11:51

This is just a goofy gen-fic because I love writing Karin.

Warnings: None in particular.
Pairings: Mostly gen, except for Karin. (Onesided Karin/Naruto)
Rating: PG (language, I think?)
Summary: Karin's first week or two in Konoha. Kind of.
Notes: I really don't know why I haven't posted this--I think I expected myself to expand it? Anyway, it's just a short cute thing. (I kind of wish I had a better title this time around. I'm getting rusty at this.)

Karin and her Narutocrush

The second Karin is cleared by Ibiki, she seeks out Naruto, only to find he's no longer in town. Due to her status as a former missing-nin, leaving Konoha is not an option. She wanders town, getting to know the locals for a few days. Her apartment is on the North end of Konoha, near the Academy. Konoha assigns her D-rank message-delivering missions right away, in an effort to put her unique tracking ability to use until she can be trusted. Right. Talents being put to use. She snorts.

The perfume shop is on the same street as the flower shop, which is often occupied by some blonde and the pink-haired bitch who tried to kill Sasuke and save Karin's life.

Karin revises her thoughts. Maybe not a pink-haired bitch. Maybe she was just on the wrong side at the time. Karin doesn't try to clarify to herself who, exactly, she meant was on the wrong side.

---

Karin is the first to feel Naruto's return. "Hokage-sama!" she calls, rushing down the hall.

Tsunade has just lost the most money since becoming Hokage. She is less than entirely thrilled to see anyone at the moment. "What is it?" she snaps.

"Naruto has returned," Karin says. She can practically taste his chakra. It's better than she remembers from their first meeting. Karin fans herself with one hand. "I'm going to go welcome him--" she stops. "Th-that's--Sasuke's chakra?"

Tsunade sits up. "Send one team to greet them--do not attack unless provoked." Shizune nods, rushing to the ANBU headquarters to pass on the message.

Karin bows. "Hokage-sama, I have some matters I would like to discuss with Sasuke."

Tsunade shakes her head. "It can wait."

"Then, Naruto--"

"It can wait," Tsunade insists.

Karin can feel herself deflating. She hates not being worth a damn in this stupid village. As a missing-nin, she had no real status either, but at least she could do what she wanted; status didn't matter.

---

It's two more days before Karin can get near Naruto. There is a big party at a popular, but small ramen stand. She isn't really invited, but the rest of Taka is there, and Naruto is there, and half the village is probably planning to stop by and buy him some drinks, so an invitation isn't really that important, anyway.

There are people from all over town, and a few Suna shinobi gathered around Ichiraku's ramen stand. Karin can hardly get close, and when she does, it's Sasuke that greets her, not Naruto.

"Move over," she snaps. "Naruto!" She hopes she radiates warmth and love as she says his name. Suigetsu used to tell her she sounded fucking stupid, but what the hell does he know?

Naruto turns, his gorgeous blue eyes sparkling like the sea on a sunny day. "Oh, you're, uh--"

"Karin," Sasuke interrupts. He stares at her seriously for a moment. Then, because he's drunk, she can feel the way his chakra's wobbling, "what the hell?"

Karin huffs. "You're used to the old Karin," she says. "The old Karin loved the old Sasuke, but that was before the new Sasuke put a hole through Karin's chest."

"...Are you drunk?" Sasuke replies.

Naruto frowns. "But chidori numbs the wound. It doesn't even hurt that bad."

Karin's jaw drops in horror. "You hurt Naruto with the chidori?" She immediately pushes between Sasuke and Naruto to rub her hands over Naruto's manly, manly chest. "Poor Naruto, are you still hurt? When did it happen? You can tell me everything."

Sasuke snorts. "I owe you one," he says to Naruto, smirking into his beer. Best night ever, Sasuke decides.
