applying at sign shops

most sign shops, printers, "we'll make a sign AND your website AND print your business cards!" places, etc here don't have websites. i have to call them and get an email address, or go see them.

i remember a few of you work in sign shops. which would you prefer?

i'm just looking for some kind of intern/girl friday work, even unpaid, if that makes a difference.
