Hola Graphic Design Community,
I've searched through the portfolio tags and this wasn't covered.
I've started a design company, Unicorn Press. YAY! For now I have a bare bones homepage (
http://www.unicornpress.net), which makes potential clients very curious about my work. EDIT: The site itself doesn't make people curious -- it's generally the qualifications that I list when contacting prospective clients that do.
I have a personal design portfolio that has a lot of my old design projects attached (from when I was in school) and it's sprinkled with some work I've completed during my 1-year stint at an ad agency.
Question: is it okay to add personal pieces + past work-for-hire pieces into this new company's portfolio? Technically I'm showing them 'work samples', or would be there be a pretense of "This was work done under Unicorn Press"? Obviously that's not the case but then would I have to put bylines (i.e. ...work made under the direction of John Doe, Company XYZ)?
I'm the only employee (at the moment) but I've done work for so many other different clients and companies. (Ironically I think that's what graphic design is pretty much about).
It's been tickling me but I've yet to come across some answers....what do you guys think?
Thanks!
