Hi. I publish MungBeing, a bimonthly magazine of art and literature. MungBeing 16: Design explores the concept of design from the perspective of the artist. Graphic designers may be particularly interested in reading the interview with font designer Ray Larabie by Mark Givens. Larabie's "work can be seen any time you walk down the street and every time you browse the web. He has designed over 400 different font families and is regarded as one of today's greatest living font designers." He talks about the inspiration behind, and processes that go into, the design of his fonts, and how working in the video game industry influenced his font artistry and design career.

excerpt:

MG: So, what is "graphic design" and why is it so gosh-darned popular?

RL: It's the craft of making things look nice so people will buy them. It's designing fishing lures for catching humans and you get to use glue sometimes.
