Against my better judgment, I am trying out for the local roller derby team tomorrow evening with a friend of mine.
I am probably going to get my ass kicked. I don't even know how to skate, but the recruitment lady told me that was not an issue.
To be honest, I would love to join a team, but I don't think I have the time to commit to that. Not with working two jobs (though it will soon become one in a month) and being a building super and the fire department. I basically just want to practice and skate for fun but not actually, you know, play or travel. I told the woman as much, and she said that it's definitely an option. And that even if I try out tomorrow, it's not a commitment up front. So, we'll see.
At the very least, it'll definitely be an experience. Fitting of my newly bought mouth guard in of itself was quite interesting. ("I have to boil it? Then put it in my mouth just after taking it out? What?")
