- Hester in A Prayer for Owen Meany
Things seem to be coming together *knock on wood*. I got a job in Richmond that I think is going to be great. It's for a dance studio and my boss is wonderful. She is paying me more than I asked, wants to work with my school schedule, is encouraging me to make a side business of photography through her studio, and wants the office to have a fun and creative atmosphere... oh and did I mention that I get free dance lessons? She said that she received a lot of resumes and mine was the best! I am so excited about this, I hope it works out. I start Saturday, July 8 which means we are going to have to cut North Carolina a day short, but it's worth it.
Buying a duplex is also becoming a more clear possibility since my mom offered to co-sign on a loan. We found a cute, old house in Richmond that someone turned into a triplex. Leah is supposed to go look at it tomorrow. From the outside, it looks very home-ish. It has a big tree in the front lawn (which makes me happy) and a front porch. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the inside will work out the way we need it to. We are willing to fix it up and expecting some major repairs considering the price, hopefully it isn't a wreck (it must not be too bad since two of the three tenants have lived there for over five years). If we did get the triplex we aren't sure what we will do with the third apartment (Leah will move into one and Nate and myself in the other). Possibilities include renting it out, turning it into a studio/ dark room, a study, and the guest quarters in general. I'm curious about the layout since it is two stories and 2700 sq feet, which means it is three times the size of our current apartment.
Continuing my recent lucky streak... Vanity Fair just put out a new issue that had three great articles.... one that pronounced blowjobs as the most American Sex Act (it was actually very well written), one that explored how Rumsfeld has managed to destroy the Iraq campaign, and another about the Duke scandal. I love my Vanity Fair.
Well, I need to start packing... which is freaking out the dog. Maggie doesn't like change.
