Yesterday I was absolutely exhausted. I didn't want to rely on a strong cup of coffee to wake me up, but I didn't know how I was going to function otherwise. I am beginning to think there is something wrong with me - more than the fact that my period is due and I'm a little sick. I started feeling this way the week Tariah went to school - it's been almost a month. But then again, I also took some NyQuil around 2:30 yesterday morning. Maybe that was the problem. Today I feel a WHOLE lot better.

The wedding on Sunday was a little hectic, but a fun shoot for sure. I got a lot of nice shots, but still I am not where I want to be with my wedding photography. I feel that there is so much more inside of me, but I also feel limited by my knowledge, equipment, and experience. I need to intern. Taking more classes is also a necessity. Workshops would be priceless. Unfortunately, I also have to pay the bills, and that's just not happening too much right now. Maybe October and November will be much better.

When I got to the BEAUTIFUL chapel, I found out some very important information that the bride did not pass on to me. The people who run the chapel are VERY restrictive when it comes to photographers. It was a loooong center aisle, but I was only allowed to go about three pews in from the back. If I had a longer lens, it would have been fine. As a wedding photographer, it is absolutely necessary that I get a longer lens, I realize now. In addition, I was not allowed to be in the center aisle at all up front. I was allowed to come in from the side a bit, but not much to truly help. The left side of the front of the church was blocked by the harp & flute duo, so I was completely stuck on the right. I was able to capture only a couple shots of the groom's face. There was also a door on stage that I could come through, but my view was almost blocked from that angle since the groomsmen and videographer were also standing there. Finally, no flash was allowed. Luckily, Susan helped me rely on ambient light better than I was able to in the past. That paired with my gorgeous f/2.8 lens really gave me some awesome shots. I am in awe. Here are some of my faves:

The groomsmen were AWESOME! We got some fun shots!

I loved taking pictures of Johanna's father. He was so happy.

Every time Johanna and her father did something together, they both teared up.

A few other things that I noticed during the wedding:

- Damian is nice to have on hand whether he is shooting or not. He fetches cards and batteries, water and food. Priceless, and free! Just feed him at the party!

- From what I heard, 1 GB compact flash cards are not compatible with my 5D. Having my 20D set up with a 1 GB card makes it easy to switch my good lens over and keep shooting.

- My 20D is SO SLOW!!! I felt like I was shooting under water! It just didn't feel the same way in my hands as the 5D does, and the 20D doesn't shoot full-frame. The 20D was made using a sensor that is smaller than a traditional frame of 35mm film. It doesn't shoot nearly as wide as my 5D does, which is a hard transition in the middle of a shoot.

My friend Melissa just got her boobies done. SO. JEALOUS. They are gonna be gorgeous, lucky her. Makes me even more motivated to save up for them. I figure that if I try to save a couple thousand from taxes the next couple years and save $1000 or so from photography, I can finance the final three grand. Maybe... Anyway, I need to go visit her today.
