I could bury myself under the Christmas tree right now...

If I didn't have so much work to do. But I do, so I won't.

I am trying to finish up Nicole's maternity shoot, but the 'Bux has been scheduling me for back-to-back shifts and I haven't had any time to be able to do much of anything. At least I know my next paycheck will be nice. I work four hours there tonight, so I will be getting paid time and a half. Whoo hoo!

Christmas was nice, but I am glad it is over. I had everyone over from my family. I ate too much, like usual, and now I am trying to do damage control. I hate that I do this to myself. It will take probably two weeks or so to get myself back to being comfortable, and then another three or four to meet my goal. Anyway, everyone got great stuff for Christmas. Damian got me an Ipod Shuffle and $50 iTunes gift card. I am LOVING me some Grey's Anatomy Soundtrack right now. I got Damian a new hookah, and it rocks. Tariah and Thayana got a bunch of great clothes and toys, including games and learning toys. We have so much we can do together now, which makes things more interesting during play time. The girls got a lot of presents from Damian's family too, so they were doubly blessed this year. :-)

Last night we had a pretty big New Year's party here. There were quite a few people I didn't know. Damian barbecued tri-tip and we had drinks (including a keg of BJ's Harvest Heffeweisen) and counted down to the new year. I got kissed by my significant other this year - nice! When it cleared out a bit, I smoked some hookah with some of Damian's friends because the lightweight had fallen asleep. It was fun, but I am ready for things to settle down a bit.

My mom was researching salaried photography jobs throughout the state, and she came across a few that I am very qualified for and that pay very well. Unfortunately, they are probably based in Sacramento, and I am unwilling to commute when my kids will likely go to school here in Yuba City. The jobs were Photographer, Senior Photographer, Offset Process Camera Operator Master Photographer, and Supervising Photographer Dept of Transportation. I guess the last one with the Dept of Transportation might possibly be located here since we have a CalTrans office here, but I would assume that it's likely I would be required to travel to Sacramento frequently. Pay ranges start at $3050 for the basic Photographer position up to $5067 for the Supervising Photographer position. It's nice to know that it's possible to use my degree for a job that would pay well and has great benefits, and that I am very qualified for all of these jobs. The other con that I am considering is that the work may be incredibly boring, and I won't be able to use my creativity the way I do in my photo projects now. Then again, steady pay is always nice. :-) We will see what happens. My mom is going to let me know if the state tests for any of these jobs soon, and I will go from there.

Time to work some more.
