I couldn't help but notice that at 25, my mom was working diligently on cleaning up my father's messes. Now, at almost the same age, I am working on cleaning up my father's messes. He left behind so much destruction, and now two generations of women are working on recovering our families from his nastiness. Why would a person want to leave such a horrible legacy?
Of course, this is my choice. I don't feel in any way that I am a victim - I came out on top compared to some of my family members. I just think that it is disgusting that there are people out there who are willing to destroy the lives around them so completely. Especially the lives of people that they are supposed to be protecting.
