The fleece has been discarded. Based on the comments from spinningfiber, I think it was lice, which angora goats are prone to having and are not contageous because they are species specific. Since the fleece was 1) full of VM 2) primarily second cuts 3) infested 4) free - I pitched it in the trasho. One of the very "helpful" persons on the list told me to PANIC. Gee, what sound advice.
