You may think that locating and purchasing a footlocker in Rapid City would be an easy task, but oh boy, would you be wrong! After treking to four different locations, which as luck would have it, were in very different parts of town, my mom and I finally managed to locate a footlocker. For future reference, K-mart is the way to go, believe it or not. Target, Office Depot, Walmart, no...but K-mart, yes! Say what you will about Martha Stewart, but she really came through for me.
In other news, I'm chomping at the bit for my sister to arrive (she comes in Monday, FYI). I've only got two more days, technically one, but she doesn't get in until Monday night. She's here for a week, and then I'll have four days until I leave for New Mexico. Those will probably be the longest four days of my life while I wait until I can leave for NM. But we'll see.
Yesterday I spent an hour programming names and whatnot in my mother's cell phone. Apparently the owner's manual wasn't quite sufficient to instruct her in this arena. We had a wee of a time picking particular cell phone rings for immediate family. I picked out a salsa sounding tune for me which she will have to deal with because she doesn't know how to change it....bwahahaha. So everytime I call, the name "Ricky Martin" will come to mind for some reason.
Tonight I'm gonna get down with my Jewiness and go have pizza and a movie at the synagogue. I have no idea what we're watching, all I know is it's an Israeli film, but I'm psyched. It's been awhile since I've gotten my "culture" on by watching a foreign film, so it'll be good for little miss midwest here.
After some research and discussion with my father I have decided that I am indeed driving down to Philmont from Rapid. It's only 200 miles further than from here to V-town, and I can handle that in a day. It'll be a long day, but I can handle it. Plus, even with gas prices the way they are, it'll be cheaper than flying. So there's that.
In other news, I do not enjoy sleeping alone. The past couple months I've gotten used to having a sleeping companion, (I'm gonna leave that where it lies), and now without one, I am most displeased. Where is my human comforter? Argh! But it's a fate this Bekah will have to get used to...starting now...so I should really quit my kvetching. Grrr.
On a completely different and redundant note, I am psyched to go to New Mexico. A little scared, since it's something completely new and different. I'm afraid I'll get there and stand around like an imbecile for awhile because I won't even go where to go, but I figure I'll just flash a wandering boyscout and he'll help me out, right? Good plan, eh?
Hmm...I'm a gonna see if we have any cookies in the house. I could eat a cookie right about now.
