After much build-up I took my first Shakespeare test today. Last week all the newbies of the class talked to the folks who took the class last semester and according to them the Shakespeare tests were horrible. But when I took it today, it wasn't half bad. Granted, there was a lot of writing because there were seven essay questions; however, it was all regurgitation. His essay questions should've stated, "Tell me what I said about this section." The only honest-to-god thinking I had to do concerned finding in what margins I had scribbled his lecture notes. Big friggin' deal. The Dramatic Lit and Dance History courses I took at Casper were harder because (1) for each test I had to have a grasp on much more information than this test (2) there were actually "do your own thinking" questions. The only aspect of the Shakepeare test which was harder than the Dramatic Lit test was just that my hand was cramping by the end. Normally after Dramatic Lit tests I left the classroom feeling like I didn't even know my own name. After the Shakespeare test, I thought "hmmm...I could take another one."
The folks in my Shakespeare class need to cowboy up.
