I like to remember the good ol' days of Michael Jackson....(sigh)

Well I've been at USD for three weeks now and it's gradually getting better. Last Tuesday I learned how to play spades with some graduate students and that was the most fun I've had since I've been here. I still really haven't created any serious friend networks, but hopefully the folks who I played spades with will become future "hanging out" folks.
As of right now I'm less than impressed with the students making up my theatre department. In my upper level Script Analysis class one of the students mixed up Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" and Chekov's "Three Sisters." How can anyone possibly confuse those two plays, especially when you've apparently worked on scene from Streetcar. I'm just baffled. Then again I was the only one in the class who had heard and/or knew what Equus was about. I could understand that among lower class folks, but upperclass and grad students? What in the hizzow? They also seem pretty snobby too, which is funny considering the above information.
I've seen a couple people going here whom I went to high school with, but nobody with whom I would like to start a friendship.
GOOD NEWS: I FINALLY got a job and it's the library on campus! That may sound pretty lame to some of you, but I was way excited! I won't have to worry about driving to work, I can just walk five minutes. Plus, my job duties pretty much consist of checking in/out books, reshelving books, and dusting shelves. I can certainly handle that, no problemo. Plus, my boyfriend always says I look like a sexy librarian, so now I'll really be one, woo ha!
Earlier today I went out to lunch with my aunt, uncle, and cousin because they were in Vermillion to watch my cousin compete in track. After lunch we watched four of the world's best pole vaulters compete. I've never watched pole vaulting before, nor am I too interested in track stuff to begin with...however, this was awesome. I saw the silver medalist from the Athens games compete, as well as the 7th place fella (who is from USD). They got as high as 9 feet 2.34 inches which is only 7 inches shorter than the highest that anyone has EVER pole-vaulted. So, it was pretty exciting, believe it or not. Plus, I got a free lunch out of the deal so you can't beat that with a stick.
Anyhoo, just trying to fill folks in quickly. Now I'm off to see the Student Theatre Co-ops "Evening of One Acts." They're doing Zoo Story, "The Lesson" by Ionesco, and an original script. Hopefully it will be good!
