I just noticed it in My Documents.
Eat Day was exhausting. I stayed late to finish work. I wanted to drive home that night, but I knew I was just too tired. So I got up in the morning, packed up my delicious venison pot roast, and set off for home. I still needed to wrap presents and buy stocking stuffers. For my dad, I got a custom-fitted wetsuit, but since there was no way to give it to him without taking measurements, I had to create a small facsimile to be hung upon the tree.
I was up til 12:30, but I was fully prepared. And it was one of the bext Xmases ever. I thought now that I was self-supported, the loot would diminish. I was wrong!
I hauled a bitchin' vacuum cleaner set, both upright and floor units. I got seasons 3 & 4 of Dr. Who, which I was definitely not expecting cuz they're stupid-expensive. I got jewelry from my dad, which I like even though it's in my 13-year-old palette: black & grey. My mom points out that if I become a widow it's acceptable jewelry to wear within the first year. I got cold hard cash. A pig made out of marzipan (MARZIPIG!) and super-dark Lindt truffles, and peppermint bark, and I actually had to leave a bunch of food behind. I'm just too happy with my body right now. And I got a Barnes & Noble gift certificate, which I've already used to buy Jeeves & Wooster on DVD and a book, and I may have some left over to buy this horrifying Babysitters movie I saw with John Leguizamo. I can't help myself, I'm... drawn to it. I also got a Dooney & Bork purse from my mom, in a snazzy little sack to protect it from dust. I'll use that to keep it in mint condition and then sell it as vintage in a few years. I've always hated those bags, and she knows it.. She said not to worry cuz she paid like 25% of what they usually cost. I'm certainly not unhappy she gave it to me! Ooo, I also got utility mats for my car. Pretty much my entire haul is documented on Facebook, which is good because my memory is so shitty I'm floundering even now.
So Christmas was great. And the day after, my mom and grandma said they were going to take me shopping. I was like, for what? You got me everything I asked for. But I also was under the mistaken impression that taking me shopping meant they would be paying. This was only cleared up at the GAP register, where I plunked down almost 200$ for four pairs of pants. (All four of which do make my ass look amazing, so good investment.) So, a surprise, but hey. Great pants. I also finally accepted that most pants do not fit my waist and so I bought a belt, in the interest of preventing butt cleavage. I have been a serious offender in the past.
Then I went to Sylvie's going away party, where I saw so. many. people. and it pretty much blew my mind. I had a great time! I got to see Manda and Michelle and Michelle's baby and Elly and Ginny and Justin Butner of all people. Plus meet a whole bunch of new people who were great and meshed seamlessly with the, er...TJ dynamic. Also, lots of good food & drink.
Saturday Darius and I went out to Courthouse for a drink, ended up ten blocks away from where we should have been, and ended up making an evening of it anyways. That was awesome. And because of it, I ended up going to Nocturne the next night at Savannah's, and getting to see Aprotim, meet his wife (I'm certain we hadn't met before, but she's certain we have) Lauren, and see Bradley, Jess, and of all the surprises Eugene Chung! AKA my Korean-supermodel-ex-boyfriend. It was lovely to find we still get along great. That was a great night, full of flames, friendship, and teamwork! Also group singing without accompaniment, which for some reason makes me uncomfortable.
Monday I hung out with Alisha, her fiance Mark, and the indomitable Jonathan Schremp. I introduced him to Pollo Campero. And then we went to ..Fairouz? the place next to Oasis, which is now just a store. I was watching Arabic TV with Spanish subtitles and it was everything it should have been. Now that was some quality catching up, since I'm pretty sure I haven't seen her in 8 years. Though I think she said she was at her reunion, so I would have seen her then but we wouldn't have had a chance to talk like we did @ Fairouz.
Tuesday I went home to Derek & Bburg! Lauren kidnapped my dog in a flurry of confusion over vaccinations and where he would be staying while I was gone. Since she was doing it all for free I didn't protest, and then Derek and I were left with an evening alone. So I took him to Big Al's, since he'd never been before. And he gave me my Xmas presents! He knew I didn't have any pictures of him at work, so he got me a digital picture frame and loaded it with pictures of us & him. And he got me season 2 of The Office, the only one I'd been lacking and had figured I'd spend my Barnes & Nobles giftcard on. And then there were other, more personal, pleasantly-scented gifts.
And then we had a terrible fight, but it had the most concrete resolution I've ever had in my life. It was weird.
