Black robes floated obscenely around Voldemort's form, undulating unnaturally. His red eyes glowed in an ivory visage, mouth set wide in a mirthless grin as he gestured imperiously. Nagini moved forward, striking out. Neville fell silently, clutching his throat. Harry stood exposed. There was nowhere to go, none to protect him.
"Check mate."
Ron snorted in disgust as he rose from the board. "Next time, we use my set," he said as he took his coat from Hermione and left.
"Severus, those special edition chess pieces really throw Ron off his game. Must you use them?"
Snape smiled. "Oohh, yes!"
