When Hermione dreams, she cries for a man she hardly knows.
All sin and seduction, he hovers at the edge of her mind, beckoning her with slender fingers. His eyes are as dark as coal, and his skin as cold as marble. Like a nightmare she’s not quite ready to forget, he haunts her, pale as a ghost and almost as transparent in his intentions.
He hurts her, but she can’t let go. He’s become an anchor to which she clings, unable to face the world alone. And she tells herself it’s for the best.
She tells herself she’s happy.
