“What?” Harsh breathing mingled with her choked sobbing. “Y-you….” Words failed her for the first time in her life. Lacking her normal eloquence, she pinched the bridge of her nose between finger and thumb, using the pain to ground herself.
“You complete and utter bastard!” she screeched, launching her knee with crushing force between his legs.
Severus watched from the shadows in bewilderment as what looked like his evil twin dissolved into wisps of smoke. Hermione gasped as she overbalanced, staggering directly into Severus as he stepped forward to catch her.
