Slam!
She entered to find foolish wand waving moving things about in their small sitting room. Eyebrows raised, she noted the gleaming wood, the sofa free of feline hair for once, and all of their books neatly in place.
Hesitating, he dropped his arm and looked…well, haughty. As haughty as possible when one is caught skiving off potions work to perform housecleaning.
“May I ask-”
“No.”
“Didn’t you need to work on-“
“No.”
“Are my parents coming tomorrow after all?”
“Yes.”
“It’s just dinner.”
“I just…they should know that you are taken care. That we do not live like savages.”
Dropping her books with a thump, she crossed to face him. Framing his face in her hands, she brought his forehead down to hers.
“Though it matters not what others may think, I still regret that they were upset about our marriage,” he admitted grudgingly.
“They were upset with me. They were surprised. It was never you,” she whispered.
Twisting his fingers around a wayward curl, the mood was broken.
“Come. We’ll work in the bedroom together.“
“Cleaning, of course?” she said with a laugh.
“Of course,” he said with that small half-smile he reserved for her alone. “Eventually.”
