(PARTS 7-9)

PART 10

“Minsectumsempra,” he incanted, pointing his wand at his wrist.

A deep cut appeared instantly across his skin, red liquid flowing from the opening. It poured freely onto her face, leaking into her mouth through the humble vent in her lips.

Instinct made her further part her lips, lapping at the liquid luxury with her tongue. The moment she swallowed she could feel the power building in her veins, coursing through her limbs and into her fingertips.

Gradually her strength returned to her, and, with it, her sense of reality. She could feel a change in her olfactory senses.

PART 11

She could see the pores on the backs of her hands, count the hairs on her arms with a single glance.

The world was becoming clear to her now. Visions passed through her mind as vividly as if she were watching them on a movie screen. She saw the lines in her Potions Master's lips during her first potions lesson as he spoke to her. His voice was echoing in her ears, “I can teach you how to brew fame... bottle glory... even put a stopper in death.”

He had been looking only at her while he read that speech.

PART 12

“Yes,” the present-time Severus whispered to her. “It was for you. It's all been for you. I've loved you, as you are now, since before you existed.”

“How?”

“It is part of the gift,” he continued. “I foresaw what would become of you. I predicted this day. The only thing I was unsure of was whether or not you would accept my offer, Hermione. Decisions made from a mind like yours are not to be left to chance. Not if one expects a favorable answer, at any rate. And, now,” he brushed her arm lightly, “that gift is yours.”

PART 13

She sat up slowly, gazing at the room around her.

“Will you teach me?”

“Everything.”

“Why me?”

“We are such similar creatures, you and I,” he sighed. “Your mind has always intrigued me. Your strength...” he sighed. “You are mesmerizing, Hermione. I adore you. Give me the chance,” he paused, brushing her hair off her shoulder to expose her bare neck to the night. He bowed his head, his nose settling over her collarbone. He inhaled her scent, his lips brushing the bare skin of her shoulder.

“Give me the chance,” he repeated, whispering huskily, “and I shall worship you.”
