PART 1
In the dark she waited, until, finally, he emerged from his hidden bedroom. She reacted immediately, crying “Incarcerous!” the moment he was within her line of vision.
He lay on the floor, trapped by his makeshift chains, a stunned look adorning his face.
“How did you-”
“It doesn’t matter.” She interrupted. “Just tell me. Did you do it?”
He was silent for so long that she thought he would refuse to answer willingly. As she opened her mouth to repeat the question, he answered her.
“Yes.”
“Why?” She asked, her voice full of emotion.
He sneered. “Why do you care?”
PART 2
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“Because I did it. I’ve confessed to you. What should my motive matter?”
She regarded him for several moments, contemplating his response. “He asked you to do it, didn’t he?”
Her question had obviously surprised him. He watched her, wide-eyed, as he formed his answer.
“Yes.”
“Then why haven’t you told anyone!” She shouted. “Why not tell McGonagall? Or Lupin? Anyone?”
“Don’t be stupid, girl!” He yelled back. “Anyone aware of the situation would be in danger! I will not risk another life for my happiness.”
She straightened her back and released his chains. “Then I will.”
