PART 1
"How are you?" He asked her, his voice shallow and rhaspy, belying his inner turmoil and pain.
"That's none of your concern, Severus." She replied, her face a mask of stone.
"How can you say that?"
"Because it's true."
He sat on the edge of the bed, his face held firmly between his hands. Her eyes remained steady and unmoving, her anesthesized gaze focused firmly on the door.
"I know you, Severus. You couldn't have wanted this."
His head snapped up sharlpy as he turned to stare daggers at the woman seated next to him.
"You know nothing!" he whispered harshly.
PART 2
"Please leave me alone." She replied coldly. "I have nothing more to say to you, Professor Snape."
He rose from the bed and slowly made his way toward the polished double doors of the Hogwarts hospital wing. As he reached for the cold door handle he turned, hoping to find her watching him as he exited the room.
"Look at me, Hermione."
Nothing.
"Please."
Her eyes met his gaze, though her head remained steadily fixed in place, ever the picture of the Gryffindor lioness.
"I would have taken care of everything... of..." He stalled, his eyes falling to his feet. "of you..."
PART 3
"That's very kind of you Professor, though wholly unnecessary."
He stared intensely at the woman who was causing him such pain... such grief... such anger. Severus Snape did not show emotion. Severus Snape did not show compassion. Severus Snape... was furious.
"What the fuck is the matter with you?!" He roared suddenly, his eyes ablaze with rage. "How could you..."
"Just go." She sighed. "Someday you will-"
"Forgive you?" He sneered. "No, Miss Granger. I will not."
He opened the door and stepped through, pausing only for a moment to affirm, "I will never forgive you for killing our child."
