Hermione lay awake. Her lover's arms were wrapped around her, clasped beneath her breasts; she held them tightly. His soft breath caressed her neck, deep and slow in his slumber. They had weathered the storm together. They'd told family and friends alike. They'd endured days of scrutiny and questions, accusations and insinuations. After the initial confrontations, some visitors left in outrage. The Weasleys were first; but surprisingly, many remained. Terse civilities emerged, and the week progressed; albeit, painfully slowly. Now, finally, Hermione and Severus were alone, and able to relax. She fingered her wedding ring, and smiled into the darkness.
