Hermione hid behind the large pumpkins beside Hagrid’s hut. She had hidden here once before, listening to the fate of the Hippogriff and was reminded of the irony of the situation. She wasn’t hiding to save another, but herself.
She watched as the Death Eaters ransacked Hogwarts and the Forbidden Forest, leaving bodies and a ghostly green mist in their wake.
She felt the spell hit her; everything went black, and she could not utter a sound. A familiar hand wrapped around her arm and pulled her close.
She felt their bodies press together as Snape Apparated her to safety.
