“It’s time that you did this.”
Severus looked from the brown eyes of his wife to the staircase. “This can wait another time,” he said, turning to leave.
“No,” she replied, grabbing his arm and stopping him. “It’s been fifteen years, Severus.”
The sadness was etched on his typically masked face as he contemplated the task ahead. Finding his resolve, he nodded to his wife and ascended the steps to the tower. Wavering at the top, he was reassured when Hermione took his hand before following him through the door to face his demons and the memory of his friend.
