Authors notes: An old favourite challenge. I don't know, drabbles are like buses apparently, nothing for ages and then several hit at once.
“You know this probably won’t work,” Hermione said, pacing the room like a caged lioness.
“I know that,” Severus agreed calmly from his chair while watching her.
“There are just too many complications for us to ever make it,” she went on in despair while running her hands through her wild hair.
“I’m very well aware of that,” he responded, his voice even and controlled.
“The consequences if this comes out into the open are just too severe,” she continued, tears beginning to form in her eyes as she stopped in front of the window and looked out over Hogwarts.

“I realise that as well,” he responded while getting up from his seat and walking over to her.
“Maybe we just weren't meant to be,” she whispered. Unable to hold the tears back she let them fall down her cheeks.
“I think you might be right,” Severus said in the same calm voice as he walked up behind her wrapping her tightly in his arms.
“So, what do we do?” Hermione asked, lowering her head.
“Fuck it all,” he replied, turning her around to face him, “we go for it anyway!”
His lips met hers in a searing, defiant kiss.
