Hermione clutched her cornflower-coloured robes and bent to catch her breath. Merlin, she'd never taken a trans-continental Portkey before. Severus steadied her carefully by her elbow, and when the urge to vomit her tea sandwiches subsided, she straightened, then gasped.
Fluffy clouds hung lazily in the azure sky, and the sapphire ocean lapped against the golden sands. It was warmth, blessed, blessed warmth, that caressed her skin. Seasonal music played quietly from somewhere.
“Do you like it?” Severus asked, his voice unsure.
“Oh yes,” Hermione breathed. She kissed him happily. “Best Christmas present I've ever received.”
“Good.”
