Malfunctioning air conditioning and record-breaking tropical heat made Severus nostalgic for the damp chill of the Hogwarts dungeons - he felt as though he hadn’t slept in days. He shifted slightly, trying to put more space between himself and the wild-haired human furnace with which he shared the bed. Murmuring something unintelligible in her sleep, she reached for him in an attempt to stay close but he edged away, contemplating the consequences of cooling charms in a Muggle hotel.
Reaching for his wand, he cast the charm. It would wear off by morning, and what Hermione never knew wouldn’t hurt her.
