Severus stood anxiously at Hermione’s door. He hated small talk and couldn’t overcome his nervous silences at the beginning of their dates. Tonight, they would be attending a formal function. Severus wished he could impress her with debonair, smooth talk, but he felt unusually uncomfortable.
When Hermione opened the door, he stared. The silky fabric of her robes hugged her curves in all the right places. He blurted, “If you were any hotter, your robes would be on fire.”
Hermione smiled. “I was thinking the same thing about you.”
Severus sighed, suddenly relaxed. Apparently, he had said the right thing.
