Hermione pressed her fingers to her lips. They tingled as if something brushed against them still, but her fingers met with only soft, dry skin. The tingling continued unabated.
Severus looked almost as startled as she felt, their argument forgotten.
“I apologise,” he murmured eventually. “I don’t know what I... That is, I did not wish to cause offence.”
“I’m not offended. I hardly know what I feel,” she replied. “it was all over so quickly. Perhaps,” she added, looking up at him hopefully, “in the spirit of scientific discovery, I might persuade to you repeat the experiment?”
He swallowed.
