His aunt had sewn it and upon use, he’d charmed black the quilt of sunflowers and rainbows; wandlessly, deepest feelings tangibly revealed. He knew it was still somewhere here in his childhood room, beneath the dust, between one bad memory and another.
Ah, there it was.
Small, fragile, worn out - a picture of the boy that had once sought refuge under it when the screams from downstairs became too loud, now a man waiting for his first’s birth.
Stepping out of the house, he removed the charm; his little girl would never need black blankets - he’d make sure of it.
