Hermione groaned and rolled over in her husband’s arms when her alarm clock chimed. She opened one eye and glared at the clock as if it was its fault that she had to wake up at such a ridiculous hour of the morning.
Severus’ arm was warm and heavy on her waist. Hermione wriggled until she was free and slowly sat up.
“You should stay home today, Hermione.” Severus’ eyes were shut, his voice groggy with sleep.
“I can’t.”
“Oh, that’s right. I forgot the end of the world was today. Well, you better not miss it then.”
“Severus… you know they need me.”
“I’m sure they can manage to survive one day without you.”
“But I have to turn in that report and Nancy scheduled-“
“Tell them you have other things to do…and one of them is me.” Severus opened one eye and gave her a sly grin.
Hermione laughed. “I wish I could…” She ran her eyes over Severus’ face and exposed chest. “I really do wish I could…”
“Then tell them you’ve got the flu. Just tell them something, and stay here with me.” His eyes locked with her own.
“Alright, I’ll tell them something…”
When Hermione returned from the living room Floo, she had a sheepish look on her face that only served to heighten Severus’ desire for his wife. She crawled across the bed and then noticed her reflection in the mirror.
Frowning, she tried to untangle her morning mess of a hair-do.
Severus grabbed both her small hands in his, glad that for once she had decided to spend her time with him instead of rushing around that office, doing things her staff could do themselves.
“Leave it alone.” He had never told her how much he liked her morning tussled look.
