Yes. I don't think realistically Snape will ever get completely over Lily, after worshipping at her altar for two decades or more. But he has a chance to build something new, something that is not static, that has a chance to grow and get deeper with time. A real relationship, instead of a one-sided one in eternal limbo. And in time he will see how very much better *that* is...

I couldn't agree more! I think Snape's experience with love was so limited that he doesn't quite realize that he deserves someone who returns the strength of his devotion. It seems extremely unlikely that he'd lose all feeling he ever had for Lily, but it would be nice to see him discover how much more there can be to love.
