He woke feeling well-rested. His head was pillowed on something firm - thighs, he realised, when he turned his head to look up at Hermione. She was deeply asleep, and he could see the ravages of tears on her face.
Which might also explain the stiff, caked feeling on his own cheek.... Why had Granger been weeping all over him?
He became aware of her hand twisted desperately in his shirt.
“Don't do it,” she had said. Surely she didn't think...? Not even he was arrogant enough to decide when a life, especially his own, should end.
But she cared.
