Authors Notes: Ahhh a little Sunday night fluff whilst I take a break from trying to write the next instalment of “Never Again.”

Severus sat in the corner of the ballroom, watching Hermione like a lion stalking its prey.
She was radiating warmth and gliding from one well wisher to another with an effortless grace he could never dream to possess.
His right hand placed the tumbler of Ogden’s finest onto the table and then he checked his pocket for the fifth time that night.
The ampoule was still there. Dare he use it? Wasn’t it wrong to mess with fate, to ride in on a forged wave of confidence?
Casting aside his doubts and fears he swallowed the golden liquid and waited.

With the liquid luck surging through him, Severus approached Hermione.
“Miss Granger.”
“Professor, how are you?”
“As well as can be expected, I was wondering...?”
“You were wondering what, Professor?”
“Severus, my name is Severus.”
“I know. What were you wondering Severus?”
“Miss Gra... Hermione, I was wondering if you would permit me to escort you around the dance
floor.”
“Oh... you’d like a dance, Severus?”
“Indeed, if you are not averse Hermione, I would like to have the next dance with you.”
“That would be most agreeable, Severus.”
“You would find it agreeable to dance with me?”
“I would.”
