[Roy clasps Dr. Marcoh's hand, the Philosopher's Stone warm between their palms.
Suddenly, that warmth is gone, and he has to close his hand quickly to keep from dropping the stone.]
Dr. Marcoh?
[He stands carefully. Did the seat beneath him change? Was there something different about the floor?]
Dr. Marcoh!

She begins to move her lips to say his name, but them remembers...that he doesn't remember.]
...Colonel?

[He turns around, trying to locate her voice. How did she get here? She was supposed to be in bed, being taken care of by a doctor!
He reaches out, feeling for her, but his hands find only air. The PCD sits on the bench in the corner.]

But why?]
Sir...beside you. There's a device. It's how we're speaking now.

[He takes a step, and his calf bumps into the bench. Feeling around, his fingers finally locate the device.]
Where are we, Lieutenant?

Well, you're currently in a jail cell.
[Right, some dry humor might be good to calm him down, let him know that danger isn't imminent.]
Hold on, Sir. I'll explain in more detail when I get to your location.
[Aaaand out the door she goes. Thank goodness the Animus gave her gills this week, or else she would be in a tight spot right about now.]

[He waits impatiently for her arrival.]

[Hear that? It's like water is rushing around as she speaks.]

[He does hear that weird swishing out.]
Where are you?

On my way. It's...hard to explain right now.

You're not swimming to me, are you?

When she finally gets to the police station, she pulls out a paper clip and immediately gets to work on the lock keeping him in. There's probably a key somewhere but she never knew about it.]

[She pauses in her lock-picking and looks through the bars at the man she hasn't seen in three and a half months.
He looks like hell.
Lowering her voice, she continues.]
If I had to guess, I'd say you come from a time later than my own. The last thing I remember from Amestris is that Envy killed himself. And then I showed up here.

He listens to her quietly. He doesn't like to remember that time, how far he fell, how much farther he could have fallen.]
Yes, you've missed quite a bit. Our grand and glorious victory.

But her happiness at the news is fleeting as she gets a better look at him, particularly his hands, both bandaged, and then Riza looks to his face.
...But his eyes. His eyes are...empty, blank, unrecognizing. Without realizing it, she holds her breath and lifts a hand in front of his face, testing what she already can tell to be true.]
...But at what cost? Colonel, what did they do to you?

To face the Truth is to know humility. I dared to set my eyes on the future. A future I will never see.
[That's not true. He feels the weight of the Philosopher's Stone in his pocket. He could use it to restore his vision at any time. That had been the plan. That was why Dr. Marcoh gave him the stone... in exchange for a promise he cannot now keep.]
