Character Name: Katina Tarask
Canon: Super Robot Wars Original Generation
Canon Background:
http://superrobotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Katina_Tarask AU Background: Born and raised in Caemos, Katina has had a remarkably normal life up until recently. Her father is a sailor on a fishing vessel, only just recently rising higher than boatswain, and her mother is a seamstress of little to no renown.
At a very young age, it was simply assumed that she'd follow in her mother's footsteps. When she started getting into fights with, and beating the crap out of, boys her own age, her father considered bringing her into his own profession. Katina would have none of that, idolizing the strength and glory of the Empire's greatest knights from a young age, and despite knowing that she'd probably never rise to such stature, joined the military as soon as she could.
Wonder of wonders, she turned out to be a natural at war, rising through the ranks at a respectable pace. Before she knew it, she found herself in command of troops of her own - and ultimately, her skill led to her being among the first in the kingdom assigned to utilize a new weapon, in a unit directly serving the queen.
Naturally, her parents are overwhelmed but proud.
Personality: The first thing that comes to the mind of those who've met but don't really know Katina is anger. In fact, that often comes to the minds of her closest friends before anything else, though that's depending on her mood when they last met.
Actually, Katina is generally a friendly person, as long as things are going smoothly and discipline hasn't gotten too far out of hand (read: Tasuku being lazy, among other things). While she never ceases taunting her friends with little remarks, when she's in a good mood she gets along with almost everyone, and has a perfectly non-sadistic and bright smile when something awesome happens that isn't in battle. She has absolutely no complaints about everyone having a little fun and partying as long as it doesn't get out of hand (though she often overlooks Excellen's antics, a wise decision), is more likely to join in than people like Kyosuke and Sanger, and is actually more at ease with it than shy folks like Bullet.
So where does her reputation come from? Her temper. It's terrifying. She is, above everything else, a soldier, and values military discipline - and with the kind of teams she hangs out with, that's a tall order. Tasuku's being lazy about repairing mechs (even if it's not her Gespenst)? Laps! Push ups! *PAUNCH*! The worse things get, the angrier she gets, yelling like a drill sergeant at those causing the problems. And even then, it's not her friends who bare the brunt of her fury. In combat, Katina can become outright terrifying; aggressive and hot-blooded, she'll charge into a crowd of enemies in nothing more than her mediocre grunt suit, and somehow manage to make it work. Of course, her temper means that she can't operate well on her own in a Gespenst, leaving her allies to watch her back while she charges ahead of them. She prefers to pursue and ruthlessly crush a fleeing enemy, prefers to attack enemies that she was only supposed to be scouting, and prefers to throw captured enemy pilots in the brig and not trust them with a mech the very next day (or week, or even month), though she softens up on the last one after realizing that recruiting enemy pilots is actually working.
She's a total enforcer of discipline on base... and a total defiler of it in the field. Quite a conundrum.
Above all else, though, she wants to protect the Earth. Abrasive as she is, the reason she fights the way she does is because she doesn't want to leave anything that could harm her friends or the citizens of her home planet alive for very long at all, and her aggression is simply her making sure that all of the villains, aliens, and what have you are dealt with as quickly and violently as possible.
Combat Style: Katina could be said to be... somewhat of a balanced fighter, in that she's good at destroying things from any distance. She's highly aggressive in any battle, using any weapon at her disposal with at least some skill, charging headlong with guns blazing, before moving into close range to launch into a fury with her sword and fists. She can be dangerous to both friend and foe if she gets too carried away, though, and it can be difficult to get her to retreat when necessary. Her aggression can take a toll on her as well, since she tends to neglect to defend herself if it means landing another blow, so she's had to get good at fighting through pain, and has the scars to show for it.

Sample Post: Can the posts earlier in this journal count?
I'll do five questions anyways though!
Your liege has called upon you to perform a task of great importance. Upon what do you rely to complete it?
My own strength and willpower, that of the men who serve me, and the hopefully sound tactics of those above me. If they screw up... then I have to improvise.
It is the eve of a great battle, and the troops have made camp for the night. Where are you and what are you doing?
I make sure that everyone knows the plan, and I inspire them about as much as I can. I'm no expert at it, but it seems to work pretty well.
Then I get some rest, because I can't have my body givin' out on me.
What do you do in the face of great adversity?
I fight it! A lot of problems can be solved by fighting the right person, at least in my experience. I usually leave other problems to other people, but I guess if I'm in a bind I'll have to ask for help.
A celebration is being held in your honor. Lavish food, gifts, and even people are offered at your table. What do you take or do in celebration of your achievements?
Aha... that sounds nice. As long as it's all willingly given out of gratitude, and not some asshole pushing everyone else into giving me stuff, then I happily accept, as long as it's not gonna take me away from my duties for too long. A soldier's gotta unwind.
Everything you love and held dear has been taken from you in the blink of an eye. What do you do?
Most of what I hold dear is people, and people... don't usually come back. I'm not gonna hesitate to kill whoever killed them.
