So yesterday consisted of a lot of walking. I can't quite remember what most of it was for. Our OAs (orientation aides) will not let us out of their sight. I appreciate the involvement, but this summer camp stuff is getting old fast.
I believe what I did yesterday consisted of lectures. Lecturing on academic advising (registration information, degree requirements, and more stuff I already knew), and community standards (i.e. rules, which we had gone over in a resident meeting the night before). I pretty much dozed through those. The evening events were much better. Before dinner was the recital of the honor code, which is a tradition. We walked over to Williamsburg and were given free reign over the Governor's Palace's garden for about an 1.5 hours in a somewhat corny tradition. This college thrives on tradition, even if it's a little goofy. I go with the flow, though. At around 9 PM, we watched a comedy show. The campus's improv group was decent, but the highlight of the evening was Vic Henley, a comedian who's been on Letterman. He was rather funny, and he managed to insult everyone I could think of.
This was fine, although, as I've stated before, consisted of far too much walking. Dupont dorms are too far away from everything (yay for freshman dorms). Also, it was an oven outside. I'm just thankful Dupont has air conditioning (Jason, you have my pity).
Anyways, today is more relaxed, thankfully. Because it's Sunday, I'm free until 1 PM. Yay, resting.
